Product Introduction
Wedge wire screen (also known as Johnson screen or V-shaped wire screen) is a special type of screen made by welding V-shaped (trapezoidal) cross-section screen wires and longitudinal support bars through resistance welding, its core advantages are:
- V-shaped gaps are not prone to clogging and have high filtration accuracy;
- High opening rate, large flow and easy backwashing;
- High mechanical strength;
- Resistant to high temperatures and strong corrosion from seawater.
Depending on different application fields, it can be made into various shapes as required, such as tubular, plate-shaped or irregular; its filtration direction can be from outside to inside or from inside to outside; its core applications can be summarized into three major categories: solid-liquid separation, solid-solid screening and fluid distribution.

Applications
Water treatment and environmental protection field
This is one of the fields it is used the most, mainly due to their characteristics of being less prone to clogging and easy for backwashing.
1. Deep well/oil well sand control filtration: It is lowered into the well as a filter pipe, used to intercept sand and gravel in the formation while allowing water or oil to pass through.
2. Industrial water treatment:
Resin catcher: Wedge wire screen is placed downstream of the ion exchange equipment to intercept broken resin particles, ensuring that the resin does not enter the subsequent pipelines.
Water distributor/cap: it is installed on the top or bottom of the filter tank to achieve uniform distribution of water and collection of water.
3. Wastewater treatment:
Rotary screen: It is used for pre-treatment of wastewater, filtering out suspended substances such as hair and fibers, achieving continuous automatic operation through rotation and high-pressure water flushing
Sludge dewatering: It serves as the dewatering surface of belt press filters or centrifuges
Petroleum, Chemicals and Natural Gas Sector
Wedge wire screen's high mechanical properties and corrosion resistance enable its use in high-pressure and corrosive environments.
1. Oil sand control: It is used in the completion process of oil wells and gas wells to prevent sand from the formation from causing equipment wear or production halt.
2. Catalyst filtration: In the petroleum refining process, it is used to intercept catalyst particles in the fixed-bed reactor to prevent them from being lost along with the materials.
3. Chemical fluid filtration: In acidic, alkaline, and solvent media, 316L or Hastelloy alloy materials are selected to produce wedge-shaped wire screens for protecting pumps, valves, or as product recovery.
Food and beverage as well as pharmaceutical industries
The materials should be hygienic, have a smooth surface for easy cleaning, and have no dead corners.
1. Sugar/Starch: Wedge wire screen is used as a centrifugal sieve or pressure curved sieve to separate the fibers from the sugar syrup or starch slurry by applying pressure.
2. Beer/Beverage: It is used for filtering hops, malt residue, or as a yeast separation sieve.
3. Pharmaceuticals: It is used for washing and filtering API (raw materials), or as a bed plate of a fluidized bed dryer, requiring high precision (micron level) and no debris.
Mining, Metallurgy and Coal Sector
It is mainly utilized for its wear resistance and high strength. The ore is hard and usually a material with better wear resistance is selected.
1. Dewatering/Deironing: In coal washing plants and iron mines, it serves as the screen plate of vibrating screens (linear screens, banana screens) to remove moisture or heavy medium magnetite powder from the materials.
2. Classification: It classifies the crushed ore according to particle size, using probability screens or jig screens as the screen plates.
3. Centrifugal Dewatering Machine: it is made in the shape of a screen basket and performs solid-liquid separation under high-speed rotation.
Papermaking and Pulp Processing Field
Pressure screen drum: Used for pulp screening to remove impurities (such as plastic pieces, adhesive substances) from the pulp, while protecting subsequent equipment.
